Planet of the Dead - Escape from Smith's Grove

New Zealand based doom/stoner/sludge metal band Planet Of The Dead released a new Michael Myers inspired single a couple days ago titled "Escape From Smith's Grove" off of their "Pilgrims" album that comes out on July 23rd. This song is great! It starts off with a clip of the Halloween theme, and then goes into a super dark fuzzy sludge song with some deep growly vocals. The lyrics are great and fit very well. I love when bands characters and scenes from movies and let them inspire songs. I think they usually turn out really clever and well done. This is no exception. I think doom was the perfect genre for this sort of song. It was able to capture the spirit of Michael, and illustrate his escape from the sanitarium quite well. I enjoyed it immensely! I highly suggest checking this one out. ~Gangis
