Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - Dream Master
Following the footsteps of the great part 3, what else can you do with Freddy? Unlike the anomaly part 2, which had nothing to do with part 1 or part 3, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER takes place after the events of its predecessor and follows the surviving characters. Kristen, Joey, and Kincaid have all left the hospital and are trying to do their own thing out in the real world. As we know, eventually Freddy shows up to do his own tormenting, and we get the 80s awesome dream sequences to entertain us all. When this film came out it was the highest grossing movie in franchise until Freddy Vs Jason would come out 15 years later. Personally, I think that’s a compliment to its predecessor, part 3, on why this entry did so well. Sometimes, if there’s a great sequel, the entry after that great sequel will reap the rewards because people want to go back to the well. Taken on its own, this is a good entry and it’s great we get a continuation of the story. Changing the actress for the lead character is a minor annoyance, and we don’t have the great hospital setting but it’s fun to see what our remaining trio are up to. Plus, we get one of the greatest kills in the entire franchise, (roach motel anyone?). Though not quite as strong as the entry that preceded it, the is one still should be part of a classic 80s horror night.
