Lacuna Coil - Ventura, CA - 5/11/23
Italian Gothic metal band Lacuna Coil announced a headlining tour. With them, they brought The Birthday Massacre, Blind Channel and Edge of Paradise. This Lacuna Coil tour was extra special because in 2022, they remixed their 2002 album Comalies and released it as Comalies XX. LC would go on tour to celebrate the album's release. This was a West Coast tour and one of the stops was at the Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California. Even on a Thursday, fans from the area gathered to see one of metal's most popular bands.
Edge of Paradise came out and started their show with Soldiers of Danger. The show was off to a great start as EOP wasted no time in delivering an energetic performance. The crowd was on their feet and they cheered for the band. The next few songs included Hologram, Digital Paradise and One Last Time. All the band members gave it their all and they were backed up by the beautiful and perfect vocals of Margarita Monet. They made sure the audience walked out saying they were a great band. To end their set they played The Unknown, a song from their latest album of the same name. They wrapped up their set and left the stage. They were only the first band, but it was off to a great start.
Lacuna Coil are no strangers to the metal community, and it'd be a huge shocker if you're into metal and you've never heard of them and at least one song. The venue was packed with LC fans, and they were more than excited for them to come out. The lights went out once again and the fans cheered with excitement as the members came out one by one. The first song played was Blood, Tears, Dust. The crowd went into a frenzy. Fans in the middle of the floor were moshing while the fans on the rail up front were singing along. The vocals of Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro blended perfectly giving LC that sound they're known for. A few more hits were played which were Trip the Darkness, Heaven's a Lie XX, Our Truth and My Demons. LC kept the energy going the whole show and the fans were loving every minute. The show seemed to come to an end with Veneficium. The band left the stage, and all seemed quiet. After cheering for a while, LC came out to play a few more songs. After a few encores, the ending song was Nothing Stands in Our Way. LC put on an amazing performance as always and the fans were ecstatic about having them come to Ventura County instead of making them go out to Los Angeles later on in the tour. LC bowed to their audience, then left the stage. Hopefully they come back to Ventura real soon.
