KING OF THE MONSTERS (GENESIS)

Being able to destroy cities while fighting as a giant lizard, giant beetle, or rock-man should be every fighting geek’s dream. Unfortunately, this early effort for the Genesis doesn’t provide much in the way of entertaining battles…only boredom. While these characters are never called by who their inspirations, playing as a Godzilla-type against a ‘Beetle thing?” does have its appeal. The problem is the fighting mechanics themselves are slow and dull…and get repetitive pretty quick. Add to the fact you have only a few characters to choose from in this version anyways, and the whole affair is forgotten pretty easily. If you really want to duke it out among behemoth fighters…try it out but don’t expect too much. King of the Sloggers is probably a more appropriate name…
