GREMLINS (1984)

It's Christmas in July! If you are looking for a unique gift, look no further than obtaining some GREMLINS. Billy Peltzer's dad is in the market for a unique gift for his son...when he stumbles upon an old man selling oddities and other weird. He finds a 'mogwai' , which is a furry creature who the old man reluctantly gives up but it comes with important rules: 1) No sunlight, 2) No getting wet, 3) No eating after midnight. Of course, rules are made to be broken and we eventually get less furry things and more vicious things. It's a nice balance of horror and dark comedy as several 'gremlins' emerge to wreak havoc, terrorize Dick Miller, and crave construction. Though the sequel would take things in a lighter tone, the original stands on its own as a nice classic 80s horror that still has some iconic status. Revisit this one.
