Gangis The Demon
Blackbriar - The Séance
Netherlands based alternative metal/gothic rock band Blackbriar dropped a new single and video yesterday titled "The Séance" off of their upcoming album debut album "The Cause of Shipwreck" coming out on April 23rd. I absolutely love this song! It's got hauntingly beautiful female vocals, some symphonic elements, and some great guitar work. The lyrics are super clever. The song takes the guise of a failed seance and the inability to connect with the other side. I could be reading too much into it, but, based on some of the lines such as "I am a ghost to you, And you don’t believe in ghosts", it sounds to me like the underlying meaning is that it's about two lovers or friends who aren't able to communicate anymore and it's told from the point of view of someone who feels very neglected and upset and they're absolutely desperate for attention. I think that is not only very spooky, but also a genius metaphor to use. The video is also really cool too, depicting a Victorian(?) era scene and a group of guys having a seance while a creepy woman in white portrays the role of the ghost and dances around and taunts her lover. I absolutely adore this, I think it's so well done, and I am definitely looking forward to when the album comes out, because I need more of this. ~Gangis
