Alleluia! The Devil's Carnival (2015)
I finally sat down and watched "Alleluia! The Devil's Carnival", the sequel to the 2012 short musical horror film "The Devil's Carnival". An hour and a half long whimsical horror musical with great special effects, a sexy devil, an old fat pompous god, a war between Heaven and Hell, and some fantastic songs. What else could you want?? Wow! This had some really interesting stuff going on. There were a lot of subtle references to famous people and other horror works, which I thought were all done very cleverly. For example, in Heaven in one scene there's a girl who has a smile very similar to that of Jack Nicholson's Joker. I thought their take on Heaven and Hell was really unique and kind of refreshing in a way. It was just so different than any other portrayals I've seen, and all of it was visually stunning. I also enjoyed most of the songs in this one, they're catchy as hell. I also really liked some of the stylistic choices they made, such as when some actions happen, the descripors go across the screen. For example, someone swallowed, and the word "gulp" went up. There was also just some old cartoon-like sound effects throughout. I love these interesting touches. This was a fantastic film, and I definitely enjoyed it a lot. ~Gangis
